Softball Rallies for Comeback Victory at North Alabama

3/10/2026 | Softball

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Ole Miss softball program rallied for a critical, come-from-behind victory, defeating North Alabama, 4-2 in eight innings on Tuesday night.

The Rebels (19-8, 0-3 SEC) tied the game in the seventh inning on a Madi George home run and took the lead in the eighth inning on a two-run double by George. Kyra Aycock, Lilly Whitten and Emilee Boyer combined for eight innings, one earned run and five strikeouts in the win over the Lions (17-5, 0-0 ASUN).

For four innings, the Lions took control of the game, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning behind two Rebel errors and three hits while holding the Rebels hitless.

The Rebels offense finally broke through in the fifth inning, as Kennedy Bunker launched a solo home run to right field to cut the lead to 2-1. However, the Lions kept the Rebels at arm's length, responding with five consecutive outs to take the game into the seventh inning,

Down to the last three outs, George blasted an opposite field shot to left field that dropped over the fence to tie the game at 2-2. That would be enough to force extra innings, as Boyer stranded the lead runner at second base in the bottom of the frame.

Needing another jolt, head coach Jamie Trachsel turned to Rachel Connors in a pinch-hit opportunity. Connors made no mistake, roping a double to left field to set the tone for a big inning. Ryan Starr pinch ran and stole third base, but the Rebels were able to load the bases with back-to-back walks from Taylor Malvin and Mackenzie Pickens.

With just one out remaining, George delivered another clutch hit, roping a double down the right field line to score two and take the lead for good.

Boyer returned for the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out the first batter, before getting two more outs in quick succession to secure the victory.

The Rebels return to action on Friday, traveling to open a three-game series at No. 2 Texas. Game one is set for 5:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
