Track & Field Concludes Stay at New Mexico Classic

2/7/2026 | Track and Field

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Ole Miss track & field wrapped its two days at the New Mexico Classic with a handful of additional strong performances, particularly in the sprints, on Saturday.

Senior Alicia Burnett made a powerful impression in her first 60-meter dashes as a Rebel on Saturday, first running 7.35 in the prelim before dropping a 7.26 in the semifinal – already making her the No. 4 performer in Ole Miss history. Junior Royanah Farmer made the semifinal for a third straight meet, this week topping out at 7.34 in the semifinal. Freshman Patchnalie Compere advanced again as well, running a career-best 7.46 in the prelim.

In the men's 60-meter, junior Dekell Minor had the best time of the day for the Rebels with a 6.73 in the prelim before scratching in the semifinal. Sophomore Jordan Urrutia – fresh off his powerful 200-meter school record last night – ran two career-bests, first a 6.78 in the prelim and then a 6.74 in the semifinal that ranks him 10th in Ole Miss history. Sophomore Tarique Wright clocked a PR in the semifinal as well at 6.76, good for 11th all-time at Ole Miss.

Sophomore Wesley Todd and senior Joshua Knox made their way onto Ole Miss' all-time lists in the 400-meter dash, with Todd running 46.93 (47.04 after altitude) – good for No. 8 all-time – while Knox clocked a 47.21 (47.32 after altitude), which ties him for 13th.

Other all-time performances on the track included freshman Jordan Rochester in the women's 60-meter hurdles prelims, who ran 8.68 (8.70 after altitude), which ranks her 13th all-time.

Freshman William Numnum wrapped two grueling days of competition in the men's heptathlon in excellent form, recording the second-best score ever at Ole Miss with his 4,848-point performance. Numnum notched PRs in six of the seven events, and his total fell just 113 points shy of Peyton Moss' 2013 record of 4,961.

Elsewhere in the field, Ole Miss received a pair of fifth-place finishes from Logan Kelley in the men's pole vault (5.30m/17-04.50) and Kyle Johnson in the men's triple jump (15.34m/50-4).

Ole Miss will split squad for the first time this season next week, with separate Rebel delegations heading for Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge and Arkansas' Tyson Invitational, both held Feb. 13-14.
