Track & Field Concludes Split Weekend in Strong Fashion

2/14/2026 | Track and Field

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. / NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ole Miss track & field wrapped a successful weekend of split competition across Arkansas' Tyson Invitational and Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge with another strong day of action on Saturday.

At Arkansas, the Rebel men's 4x400-meter relay once again made a dent on the all-time lists at Ole Miss, this time becoming the second-best foursome in school history indoors.

The order on Saturday went Joshua Knox (47.34), Jordan Urrutia (46.43), Carson Turner (46.73) and Wesley Todd (47.16), who brought the Rebels across the line in a season-best 3:07.65 – a little more than one second off the all-time indoor record at Ole Miss of 3:06.83 back in 2004 by the quartet of Demondrick Shumaker, Mark Gregory, Kao Wokoma and Franz Bernard on Notre Dame's oversized track.

This season, Ole Miss has now run three of the top-six 4x4 times in school history indoors alongside a 3:08.61 at Clemson on Jan. 31 (Knox, Turner, Cade Flatt, Urrutia) and a 3:08.85 at Kentucky to open the season on Jan. 10 (Knox, Todd, Flatt, Urrutia).

Three-time NCAA champion and All-American senior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan continued to heat up in his final regular season meet heading into the SEC Championships, winning today's shot put competition at 21.12m/69-03.50. This marks the second consecutive meet Robinson-O'Hagan has broken the 21-meter barrier after launching a career-best (and NCAA-leading) 21.18m/69-6 at Clemson two weeks ago.

Freshman Ashton Hearn joined elite company following his career day on Saturday, becoming only the fourth Rebel to join the 60-foot club indoors. Hearn finished eighth today at a career-best 18.37m/60-03.25, good for fourth on the Rebel lists indoors.

In the women's shot put, junior Akaoma Odeluga wrapped a strong weekend of competition with a victory at 17.46m/57-03.50.

Sophomore Lily Beattie tied her indoor career-best in the championship section of the women's pole vault, tying for eighth among the elite field at 4.15m/13-07.25 (No. 6 school history indoors). Earlier in the day in the university section, Mary Cate Doughty (tie for seventh) and Katie McFarland (ninth) each cleared a season-best at 4.00m/13-01.50.

Ole Miss senior and reigning NCAA outdoor high jump champion Arvesta Troupe also represented the Rebels in an elite field on Saturday, finishing fifth in the championship section of the men's high jump at 2.19m/7-02.25.

At Vanderbilt, the story of the day was an impressive string of 800-meter PRs by the Rebel men's middle distance squad.

Senior Chase Rose continues to impress in his final season, today leading the Rebel pack with an overall career-best 1:47.53 that moved him to sixth in Ole Miss history indoors. Sophomore Max Armstrong was fifth at an indoor PR 1:47.77 (No. 9 all-time), while junior Evan Thornton-Sherman – fresh off becoming the 13th Rebel to break the four-minute barrier in the mile – finished sixth in his first collegiate 800-meter race at 1:48.32 (No. 11 all-time).

Senior Kidus Misgina took victory in the seeded section of the men's 3K at a season-best 7:55.16, while freshman Owen Kelley notched a PR in third place at 8:04.94.

The Ole Miss women's distance medley relay squad of Sophie Baumann, Jo-Lauren Keane, Cassie Williamson and Beth Arentz passed the stick in a season-best 11:25.48, good for second overall on the day and 10th on the all-time list at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss track & field will send distance medley relays to Notre Dame next Saturday, Feb. 21, for the Alex Wilson Invite. Meanwhile, the remainder of the Rebel squad will prepare for the upcoming SEC Indoor Championships, held once again at Texas A&M from Feb. 26-28.
