Softball Rides Power Surge to Win Over Central Arkansas

2/25/2026 | Softball

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss softball program launched three home runs en route to a 10-2 win in five innings over Central Arkansas on Wednesday night at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium.

The Rebels (12-5, 0-0 SEC) improved to 2-0 at home behind home runs from Taylor Roman, Kennedy Bunker and Madi George. Emilee Boyer tossed a complete five innings, striking out three Bears (9-7, 0-0 ASUN) in the win.

While the night opened on a shaky start with a two-run home run in the first inning by the Bears, the Rebels completely took over from there.

A walk by Mackenzie Pickens, followed by a single from Persy Llamas and a George walk helped load the bases with one out. The Rebels would then strike for back-to-back runs on wild pitches, tying the game at 2-2.

After another Bears walk, Roman attacked a mistake by the Bears pitcher and blasted a three-run home run to left field to break the game open and take a 5-2 lead.

Boyer kept the Bears at bay on offense, while the Rebels added to the advantage in the third inning. Cassie Reasner led off the frame with a hit and Bunker was next up. The senior roped a home run to her pull side, extending the lead to 7-2. Later in the frame, Laylonna Applin picked up a stolen base and Taylor Malvin would drive her home to extend the lead once again and make it 8-2.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the lead ballooned further, as George blasted her team-leading fifth home run of the season to make it 9-2.

Needing one more run to put the game away, Bunker and Roman reached on back-to-back walks to set up Liesl Osteen. Osteen worked the count, before recording the game sealing RBI single to earn the run rule victory.

The Rebels return to action on Friday, hosting Jacksonville State to open the Ole Miss Classic. Action in the annual event begins with a 2 p.m., neutral matchup between ULM and Jacksonville State, before the Rebels host Jacksonville State at 5 p.m. CT. All Ole Miss games will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
