Men’s Tennis Suffers Its First Loss Against No. 16 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 32 Ole Miss men's tennis team fell short to No. 16 Texas A&M, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
Texas A&M's (8-3, 1-0 SEC) Togan Tokac drove the final nail into the coffin against Ole Miss after he won two straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, against Benjamin Martin after dropping the first set, capping off a three-match point comeback for the Aggies.
Ole Miss (12-1, 0-1 SEC) began the match winning the doubles point, only losing one court. The pairing of Martin and Matthieu Chambonniere defeated Lathan Skrobarcek and Kriish Tyagi, 6-3. Followed by Stefano D'Agostino and Pietro Pampanin, who defeated the No. 61 duo of Kholo Montsi and Alex Frusina, 7-5 to clinch the doubles point.
The Rebels carried their momentum into singles play, for Pampanin secured a ranked win against No. 108 Frusina, 6-1, 6-3. The Aggies retaliated as Markus Molder defeated Isac Stromberg, 6-3, 6-4, to cut the Rebels' lead to one.
Ole Miss went up 3-1 after Vlado Jankanj defeated Tiago Pires, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, but then Texas A&M won the last three singles courts to win the match.
Ole Miss will continue its road trip, for it will travel to Norman to take on No. 18 Oklahoma on Monday, Feb. 23, at the Headington Family Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
