Rifle Starts Weekend with Victory Over Memphis
2/14/2026 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss rifle opened its doubleheader weekend with a victory over Memphis, 4731-4722, Saturday morning.
The Rebels (8-2) are on a five-match winning streak when taking head-to-head matches into account, which is the longest such streak since the 2022-23 season. They have scored at least 4730 in five matches this season, which is the most in program history. Ole Miss is averaging 4729.7 aggregate points per match this season, which is the highest in program history, and it has yet to fall below 4700 in aggregate scoring so far this season.
Ole Miss hit two major milestones which have become common for the Rebels under head coach Will Shaner. Ole Miss recorded its fifth instance of a smallbore north of 2350 by hitting that score exactly, and its 2381 mark in air rifle is its sixth time over the 2380 threshold.
Audrey Gogniat and Jordan de Jesus highlighted Ole Miss' efforts, taking the overall individual gold and bronze results. Gogniat finished with an 1186 aggregate and has finished first overall in five competitions this season and has been the top Rebel in all but two matches so far this season. De Jesus' 1185 was enough for third overall, falling one center shot shy of earning second. She has five podium finishes so far this season.
Regan Diamond, Gogniat and de Jesus led the way for Ole Miss in the first relay. Diamond had the best start of the trio, entering the prone position having missed only three shots in kneeling.
Gogniat was on fire in prone and fired her fifth perfect score in the position of the season. Diamond and de Jesus were right behind Gogniat, each recording a 199 in the position. The trio each had scores at or above 395 entering the final position.
Diamond finished with the highest individual score of all Rebels at 589 with 31 center shots. She finished second overall in the event, falling one X shy of claiming the individual best score. After a malfunction in her gun which required a replacement, de Jesus rallied to finish one point behind Diamond to earn the individual bronze medal.
Gogniat and Gracie Dinh rounded the scoring with 587 and 586 scores, respectively. The Rebels finished with a 2350 score in smallbore, their fifth time recording at least that total this season and the first time doing it in consecutive matches.
In air rifle, Gogniat demonstrated why she's the back-to-back PRC champion in the discipline. After an early slip up, she would not miss another 10 to finish with a 599 in the event. She has shot at least 599 four times this season, including a perfect 600 last time out at the PRC Tournament.
De Jesus complemented Gogniat's efforts by firing a bullseye in her first 34 attempts of the event. She stayed hot after losing her bid for a perfect score, ultimately tying her career best in the event at 597.
Dinh rebounded in air rifle and fired a 595 to finish in the top five of the event. Diamond's 590 rounded Ole Miss' sixth outing of at least 2380 in air rifle this season.
The Rebels are back in action tomorrow, traveling to Memphis to face the Tigers for the second bout of the weekend. Smallbore sighters are set for 9 a.m. CT.
