OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's basketball secures its first win of the season, after downing the Alcorn State Lady Braves, 80-38, Monday afternoon at The SJB Pavilion.

Jaida Civil, Jada Richard, and Jade Tillman combine for 45 points for Ole Miss (1-0, 0-0 SEC) as they cruise to victory against Alcorn State (0-1, 0-0 SWAC) to take their first win of the 2026-27 season. Civil ended the day as the game's leading scorer with 17, followed by Richard with 14, and Tillman rounding out the trio, claiming her third career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

In the opening frame, the Ole Miss Rebels would get out to an early 6-0 lead off two fastbreak buckets from Doneelah Washington and Talaysia Cooper, and a pair of free throws from Richard. Alcorn State would answer back, cutting the lead down to two, 6-4, before the media timeout. Following the break, Civil and the Rebel defense would show off their defensive prowess with back-to-back steals to extend their lead, 10-6, and take a four-point lead into the second quarter.

After the break, the Rebels started getting into the groove of things with Cooper leading the way, knocking down a baby jumper and a three-pointer to start the quarter. With multiple takeaways and blocked shots, Ole Miss would extend their lead to eight, 21-12. The Lady Braves would score a couple of points from the paint to try to keep the Rebels within arm's length, but the playmaking abilities of Richard would be on full display, tallying seven points and adding two assists on 50% shooting in the quarter to help the Rebels extend their lead to 12. Rachael Okokoh and Tillman would both get comfortable in the paint late and get back-to-back buckets in the quarter for Ole Miss to take a 36-19 lead into halftime.

After halftime, Ole Miss would bunker down defensively and began the third quarter with a steal from Okokoh and a fast break finish from Civil that would set the tone for the rest of the quarter. As the defensive pressure continued, the Rebels would get multiple fast break scores from Lauren Jacobs and Cooper to push the Ole Miss lead to 48-25 before the media break. After the pause in action, the Rebels would continue to extend their lead with points in the paint and second-chance buckets to take a 57-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter saw Ole Miss dictate and disrupt the Lady Braves offense holding Alcorn State to just nine points and forcing nine turnovers. The Rebels would outscore Alcorn State 23-9 in the fourth quarter which was led by Tillman, who had her third career double-double, scoring six points and bringing down two boards. Ole Miss would have multiple Rebels see the bottom of the net and take complete control of the fourth to outpace the Lady Braves 80-38 to mark their first win of the new season.

The Rebels will be back in action for the home opener against North Alabama on Thursday, November 5 at The SJB Pavilion with tip-off slated for 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
