No. 16 Women’s Golf Heads to Charlottesville for NCAA Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Ole Miss women's golf is set to compete in their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history when they Rebels travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, May 5-7, for NCAA Regional play.
 
The regional will feature three, 18-hole rounds of stroke play featuring 12 total teams, including the Rebels, as well as six individuals all vying to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship.
 
After 54 holes, the top five teams, as well as the top individual from a non-advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 16-21. The NCAA Championship will ultimately feature 30 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams.
 
South Carolina, the 2025 SEC Champion, earned the top seed in Charlottesville, while regional host Virginia will be the No. 2 seed. Fellow SEC foe Florida checks in as the No. 4 seed.
 
The postseason event will be lived streamed by Babygrande Golf beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT all three days of the Charlottesville Regional.

-- Leads the SEC with stroke average of 70.00
-- Ranked No. 22 in the Clippd Scoreboard individual rankings and No. 23 in the WAGR
-- Was recently named a first team All-SEC selection
-- Became the first Rebel in program history to win the SEC Championship individual title with a 54-hole total of 201 (-9)
-- Has finished in the top 20 in all nine tournaments this season, including four top-5 finishes
-- Has shot below par in 19 of her 27 rounds (70 percent) and has a school-record 14 rounds in the 60s this season
 
Nicole Gal (Jr.)
-- Currently shooting a season stroke average of 71.78
-- Ranked No. 77 in the Clippd Scoreboard individual rankings 
-- Recently earned second team All-SEC and SEC Community Service Team honors
-- Placed in the top 20 in six tournaments this season, including an 18th place showing at 2025 SEC Championship
-- Has tallied 14 rounds of even or below par this season
-- Earned highest career finish (3rd) at the Gators Invitational, shooting a 2-under, 208
-- Tied career-low round score (-5) at the Puerto Rico Classic
 
Kajsalotta Svarvar (Fr.)
-- Has recorded a 72.30 scoring average in nine events for the Rebels this season
-- Named to the SEC All-Freshman team by the league's coaches
-- Tallied five top-25 finishes this season
-- Registered 10 rounds of even or below par this season
-- Shot a 65 on day two at the Illini Invitational to notch the lowest round score by a freshman in program history
-- Earned first top-10 finish of her young career at Illini Invitational, tying for seventh
 
Sophie Linder (So.)
-- Holds a season stroke average of 72.89 in 2024-25
-- Tallied 10 rounds even or below par this season
-- Competed in all 27 rounds for the Rebels this year
-- Secured her career-best individual finish, tying for fifth at the Mary Fossum Invitational
-- Shot a 69-73-71– 213 (-3) at the Illini Invitational to capture a career best 54-hole score
 
Filippa Sundquist (RFr.)
-- Shooting a season stroke average of 73.65
-- Placed in the top-25 in four tournaments this season
-- Earned career-lows for 18-hole and 54-hole scores at the Illini Invitational, shooting a 1st round score of 68 and going 7-under on the weekend
-- Tied for 10th place at Illini Invitational, marking career-best placing

REBELS IN THE RANKINGS
The Rebels head to Virginia coming in at No. 16 in both  the Scoreboard rankings powered by Clippd and the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll. The team is led by Macnab who sits in the No. 22 slot for individual rankings. Gal and Svarvar also all find themselves placed in the top 200 college golfers across the country, being ranked No. 77 and No. 158 respectively.
 
THE COURSE
The Birdwood Golf Course is a uniquely designed golf facility and is the official home course of the University of Virginia men's and women's golf teams. The par 71 course was redesigned in 2020 and features zoysia grass fairways and bentgrass greens. In it's inaugural year following the redesign, Birdwood Golf Course was ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the top-10 courses in all of Virginia. Birdwood Golf Course first opened in 1984 and was designed by Lindsay Ervin. Prior to its redesign, Golf Digest ranked as one of the top-10 collegiate courses in American and Washington Golf Monthly rated the course as one of the Mid-Atlantic's top 100 courses.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Ole Miss is coming off a semifinals appearance at the 2025 SEC Championships a few weeks back in Belleair, Florida. The Rebels earned a 3-2 decision over Mississippi State before falling 4.5-0.5 to eventual champion, South Carolina. Caitlyn Macnab became the first Rebel golfer in program history to win SEC individual medalist honors as she tallied a 201 (-9) to win the event by four strokes.
