La Sasso Leads After 54 Holes, No. 3 Men’s Golf Tied for 8th Heading into Final Round of Stroke Play at NCAA Championships

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 3 Ole Miss men's golf team sits tied for eighth after three rounds of stroke play at the NCAA Championships. The Rebels carded a team score of (296, +8) and advance to the final round of stroke play Monday where an Individual National Champion will be crowned. At the conclusion of round four, the top eight teams will advance to match play.
Since the match play format began in 2009, Ole Miss's best finish came in 2022 when the Rebels placed 14th at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. It marks the third time in program history that Ole Miss has advanced to the fourth round of stroke play: 1985, 2022 and 2025.
Michael La Sasso posted two-under 70 in round three and leads after 54 holes at 11-under. He carded a clean first nine which included three birdies to shoot 33. La Sasso began his second nine with three consecutive pars before dropping two strokes at 13 and 14. He would bounce back to close round three, shooting one-under over his final four holes highlighted by a birdie on 17.
La Sasso looks to become the second Individual National Champion in program history. Braden Thornberry took home the individual title in 2017 at Rich Farms Harvest Golf Club in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Day three saw Ole Miss make the turn in red figures at one-under. The second nine proved difficult again as the wind blew steady and the greens firmed.
Cohen Trolio and Camerson Tankersley both posted three-over 75. Kye Meeks finished Sunday's round at four-over 76 and Tom Fischer posted five-over 77.
Ole Miss will begin the final round of stroke play at 1:36 p.m. CT. Following Monday's round, the top eight teams will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion.
