Henkes Named to Watch List for WGCA Coach of the Year

5/13/2025 | Women's Golf

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Ole Miss women's golf head coach Kory Henkes has been named to the watch list for the 2024-25 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday.

Recognized as the highest coaching honor in women's collegiate golf, the annual award, presented by Golf Pride, is awarded to the top coach in Division I, II III and NAIA women's golf. The award will be announced after the upcoming NCAA Championship.

This marks the fourth time in five years that Henkes has been selected to the prestigious list, including 2020-21 when she took home the WGCA National Coach of the Year award after guiding Ole Miss women's golf to their first national title that year.

Henkes is currently in her 10th season in Oxford and has led the Rebels to their third consecutive NCAA Championships appearance and the sixth time in program history. Ole Miss is headed into Carlsbad, California, with momentum after finishing second at the Charlottesville Regional.

During the 2024-25 regular season, Henkes has helped the Rebels to another successful showing with two first place finishes and eight top five team finishes. The first team win of the year came at the Mary Fossum Invitational in Lansing, Michigan. Ole Miss shot a tournament record 847 (-17) at the Forest Akers West Golf Course, finishing an impressive 15 strokes ahead of the second play and host, Michigan.

Henkes and the Rebels didn't waste any time tallying their second win of the season, taking home top honors at the Illini Women's Invitational, just two weeks after the win at Mary Fossum. Ole Miss tallied the second-lowest team 54-hole score in program history at the Medinah Country Club, firing a three-day total of 834 (-30).

Henkes and the team are ready to retake the course for the NCAA Championships, set to run from May 16-21, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
