Women’s Tennis Soars Past No. 36 Florida
4/13/2025 | Women's Tennis
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ole Miss women's tennis concluded its regular season on top with a 6-1 victory over No. 36 Florida at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Rebels (14-11, 6-9 SEC) have tallied the most victories in a regular season since the 2017-2018 season, when that team won 22.
In doubles, only two courts were active due to a court three forfeit from Florida (8-13, 4-13 SEC). Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisová fell short against the No. 32 duo, 6-1. Down to the wire, Andrea Nova and Brooklyn Olson kept a tight race but pulled ahead with a 6-4 win over Rachel Gailis and Talia Neilson-Gatenby.
The Rebels continued to fight with fire through singles, after five courts won their respective first sets. Nova's court was medically forfeited to give the Rebels a 2-0 advantage.
Freshman Alice Soulié continued to make a dominant statement on court four. The France native battled from a four-point deficit to secure a 7-5 set one victory. The power ball did not slow down, as she gave up only three games in the second set for a 7-5, 6-3 win. Soulié concludes the regular season as Ole Miss' leading dual singles win leader with 12 for the year.
To secure the match win, Lucie Petruzelova soared through both sets on court three, to win 6-0, 6-1. Her win marked the senior's 55th dual singles win of her overall career.
Another stellar freshman on the lineup sheet, Olson is now 4-0 in dual singles matches this season. Strong on court six, Olson defeated Reagan Parker, 6-2, 6-0. To round out the day, Emily Welker claimed an upset on court one over No. 27 Rachel Gailis. Welker walked away in a gritty 6-4, 7-5 final, to wrap up regular season play with a team win.
Up next, Ole Miss will compete in the SEC tournament, which is set for April 15-20, in Auburn, Alabama. The Rebel's opponent will be announced prior to the tournament.
