Women’s Tennis Victorious Over Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – Ole Miss women's tennis dominated its midweek match against Central Arkansas, 7-0, at the Conway Tennis Center on Tuesday.
The Rebels (12-9, 4-7 SEC) swept the Bears' (8-11, 1-4 ASUN) lineup efficiently, claiming four points off straight set victories in singles. Ole Miss claimed courts five and six due to Central Arkansas courting only four singles competitors.
Tuesday's match marked the first time Ole Miss and Central Arkansas have shared a court in women's tennis. Head coach Mark Beyers and company are off to a strong series start with the win.
Starting in doubles, the top two Rebel pairs quickly caught momentum for the team. Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher and Ludmila Kareisová continued their hot streak together. The newly appointed No. 28 duo in the country scorched their opponents, 6-2, improving to 18-10 overall this season.
Not to be outdone, Brooklyn Olson and Andrea Nova reentered the win column in just as dominant fashion. The freshman-sophomore pairing breezed past their opponents, 6-1, to solidify the doubles point for Ole Miss.
Ole Miss has now won eight doubles points against nonconference opponents this season.
The energy from doubles pushed Ole Miss to success in singles. Olson stayed hot for the Rebels and came away with the first singles point of the day. Her 6-1, 6-1, victory put the Rebels at four points for the day, clinching the win. The freshman has improved to a 3-0 record in dual matches this season.
Another freshman, Alice Soulié, claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win on court three for her 10th dual singles victory this season. She joined Kareisová as the two Rebels with double figure dual wins this season.
Lucie Petruzelova and Emily Welker rounded the day's festivities for Ole Miss. Petruzelova quickly followed the two freshmen with a casual 6-2, 6-4, finish on court two. Welker closed the match in dominant fashion on the first court, 6-2, 6-0, to fashion the final score with a 7-0 sweep.
Up next, the Rebels will return to Oxford to host Oklahoma on Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m. The Rebels will also welcome Arkansas on Sunday for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
