Rifle in the Mix After Day One of NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ole Miss rifle completed day one of the NCAA Championships in fifth place on March 14 at Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
The Rebels scored 2333 points in the smallbore round of the competition. Ole Miss holds the same team score as Georgia Southern, but outscored the Eagles in center shots, 124-113, to sit in fifth place heading into day two's air rifle tournament.
A pair of freshmen making their respective first appearances in the NCAA Tournament led the Rebels in the smallbore portion of the championship. Gracie Dinh and Audrey Gogniat paced the team with 588 and 587 scores, respectively, finishing ninth and 10th in the individual standings.
Dinh and Gogniat catapulted the Rebels back into contention with two scores of at least 588. Dinh scored her first perfect prone score of her career and the 14th by any Rebel this year. She and Gogniat each finished with a team-leading 35 center shots.
Lea Horvath led the first relay for the Rebels, firing a 580. Jordan de Jesus followed with a 578 to round out Ole Miss' 2333 score.
Ole Miss and its seven competitors are back in action on Saturday, March 15, with the first relay set to commence at 8 a.m. CT.
