Women’s Tennis Continues Road Trip with Doubleheader in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Ole Miss women's tennis continues its road test with a doubleheader against Tulsa at 10 a.m. and Kansas City at 3 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, Feb. 1.
 
The Rebels (4-1, 0-0 SEC) are coming off a strong start to the season, which has included the first ranked win in the books for doubles. Ludmila Kareisová and Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher defeated No. 31 Valerie Glozman and Connie Ma from No. 3 Stanford, 6-4, in last weekend's ITA Kickoff.
 
Ole Miss added two international athletes to its roster, them being freshman Alice Soulié from France, and graduate student Emily Welker from Germany.

THE REBELS   
Ludmila Kareisová (Sr.) – Liberec, Czechia
- Secured 40th career singles victory at ITA Regionals.
- Earned 50th career doubles win at ITA Sectionals.
- 2023 and 2025 NCAA Championships qualifiers in singles, and in doubles in 2025.
- Ranked No. 83 in the first ITA rankings of the spring.

Emma Kette (Jr.) – Rammelsbach, Germany
- Advanced to semifinals in the fall's ITA Sectionals.
- Earned 30th career singles win at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
- Notched 20th career doubles win at the ITA Regionals.

Rachel Krzyzak (Sr.) – Milton, Ontario, Canada
- Led the team in singles victories with an overall 18-9 record in 2023-24.
- Holds a career singles record of 48-37, and is off to a 2-0 start in dual meets in the spring.

Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher (Sr.) - La Perche, France
- Notched final four appearance in doubles with Kareisová at the ITA Sectionals in 2024.
- Has tallied double-digit wins in doubles all three years of her career.
- 2025 NCAA Championships qualifier in singles and doubles.

Andrea Nova (So.) – Prague, Czechia
- Recorded first singles win of the year at the June Stewart Invitational.
- Came to Ole Miss ranked as high as No. 298 in the ITF Junior Rankings.
- Clinched Ole Miss' 4-3 win over Utah at the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-1 victory on court six.

Brooklyn Olson (Fr.) – Kansas City, Kansas
- Tallied first dual singles win against Tennessee State, a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
- Earned first career singles win at the June Stewart Invitational.
- Blue Chip five-star recruit.
- Ranked as high as 704 in ITF singles ranking.
- Reached Sweet 16 of the Les Petits As Junior Tournament in 2020 .

Lucie Petruzelova (Sr.) – Zasova, Czech Republic
- Joined Ole Miss after three seasons with Charlotte.
- Earned first win as a Rebel at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
- Secured 75 overall career singles wins against Memphis.
- Two-time All-Conference USA honors.
- 2025 NCAA Championships qualifier in singles.

Alice Soulié (Fr.) – Angers, France
- Signed in January 2025.
- Reached a career-high No. 413 in the ITF Junior rankings.
- Claimed 47 wins in the junior circuit.
- Added 31 wins since joining the professional ranks.
- Won first career title victory at the J5 Ponts de Ce in her home country of France.
 
Emily Welker (Gr.) – Limbach-Oberfrohna, Germany
- Signed in January 2025.
- Holds a 13.7 World Tennis Number.
- Claimed her first career title in the 2024 ITF/Tennis Europe W15 Bucharest.
- Reached a career-high ITF No. 26 singles ranking.

FAMILIAR FACES
Ole Miss has five returning players from last year's team. The three-headed monster in seniors Ludmila KareisováRachel Krzyzak and Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher will significantly impact this season. The trio contributed 17 of Ole Miss' singles wins in the fall season. In 2024, Kyzyzak and Emma Kette led the team in singles wins with 18 and 17, respectively. 

OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE NET

Tulsa
A team with a wealth of experience, the Golden Hurricane have four seniors that make up a majority of the roster, alongside a few sophomores and a pair of freshmen. Tulsa is off to a 6-0 start in the spring, including defeating Oral Roberts 7-0, and Stephen F. Austin 6-1. In doubles, the No. 26 pairing of Lily Hutchings and Maria Berlanga hold down court one. The duo also handles the top two courts in singles. Senior transfer Mariana Manyoma Velasquez from Kansas and UT Arlington has an 8-2 overall singles record thus far in the 2024-25 season.

Kansas City
Like the Golden Hurricane, the Roos a veteran lineup, with the inclusion of two true freshmen. Heading into the weekend, the team is 0-1 after a loss to Kansas, 0-7. Still testing the waters, senior Joana Miralles Cardona looks to be the headliner for Kansas City, at the first slot in singles. Junior pair Catherine Chrobak and Amal Gati are in the second position in doubles, right under Cardona alongside Sophie Marshman.

FRESHMAN PHENOMS
A Blue Chip five star recruit out of Kansas City, Kansas, Brooklyn Olson started her collegiate career as a Rebel this season. She was ranked as high as No. 704 in ITF singles, and the No. 26 recruit in the nation. She made her debut in doubles at the ITA Southern Regionals with Lucie Petruzelova, and advanced to the top 16.  Olson earned her first dual singles win against Tennessee State with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score. The freshman debut is the first time this has happened since the 2014-15 season.
 
All the way from Angers, France, Alice Soulié reached a career-high No. 413 in the ITF Junior rankings and added 31 wins since joining the professional ranks. Soulié earned her first career title victory at the J5 Ponts de Ce in her home country of France. She joined Ole Miss with a WTN of 16.2 in singles and doubles.

TRANSFER TO THE SIP
The Rebels added Lucie Petruzelova from Charlotte through the transfer portal. Petruzelova spent three seasons at Charlotte and earned a combined 66-25 singles record and 58-42 doubles record. Petruzelova advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating three opponents in straight sets, including Auburn's Alice Battesi 6-4, 6-1. The senior hit a milestone overall career singles wins of 75 in the match against the Memphis Tigers.
 
Graduate student Emily Welker joins the Rebels from Limbach-Oberfrohna, Germany, with a 13.7 World Tennis Number while holding a 130-108 record in the professional circuit.  Welker reached a career-high ITF singles ranking of No. 26 and claimed her first career title in the 2024 ITF/Tennis Europe W15 Bucharest 2 tournament as the sixth seed. She won four of her matches in straight sets, including in the final round, and upset the second- and third-ranked players in the tournament for her win. She reached her highest singles career WTA ranking on March 20, 2023, placing No. 593.
