BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis senior Lukas Engelhardt has been recognized as the 2023-24 SEC H. Boyd McWhorter Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Commissioner Greg Sankey announced Tuesday.
This marks only the sixth time in program history that a Rebel has earned this honor and the first time since 2016 when men's golfer Forrest Gamble came away with the recognition. Other past winners include Jeff Noblin (1987, football), Danny Hoskins (1988, football), Rob Robertson (2005, football) and Bram ten Berge (2009, tennis).
Engelhardt was chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from the 14 SEC institutions, and will be honored by the league membership at SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Fla. while also receiving a $20,000 post-graduate scholarship.
Engelhardt, who just recently was named the 2024 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis and the Ole Miss Outstanding MBA Student Award, has cemented himself as an influential figure both on and off the court.
