MORGANTOWN, W.Va—The Ole Miss rifle shot a good air rifle score; however, it was not enough to bridge the gap as the team remained seventh at the NCAA Championships. Lea Horvath shot the seventh-highest overall aggregate score of 1183.
In relay one, Kristen Derting, Lea Horvath, and Martina Gratz again started the day for Ole Miss (7-6, 2-2 GARC). Horvath began on fire, hitting 10s in 38 of her first 40 shots on target. Horvath and Kristen Derting shot 594 each to tie for a top-20 finish. Horvath finished 14th in the discipline due to her 49 centered shots. Gratz hit a 581 through 60 shots.
Derting had a combined score of 1176, and Gratz hit an 1157 total.
The second relay saw Emma Pereira and Katie Tedeschi have a tough ending. However, Pereire still finished with a score of 590 for an 1171 aggregate. Tedeschi ended up shooting a 587 for a total score of 1162
The team finished, firing a 2365 in air rifle, which did not move the Rebels closer to the top. Ole Miss had an incredible season, earning its fourth straight appearance at the NCAA Championships. The Rebels also shot two top-10 program match scores, three in smallbore scores and one in air rifle.
Individually, five non-first-year athletes tied or broke their career highs in any of the three disciplines. The freshman amassed saw their numbers rise throughout the season. Regan Diamond went from a 577 to a 590 in smallbore and notched a 595 in air rifle.
