Ole Miss Rifle Drops Final Regular Season Match

AKRON, Ohio – Ole Miss rifle ended the regular season with a loss in Akron, 4703-4699. The Rebels' strength was air rifle, as four of the five Rebel counters shot a 590 or above.
Ole Miss (6-6, 2-4 GARC) had a new face at the top of the aggregate leaderboards, with Katie Tedeschi placing second with an 1177. Tedeschi's aggregate score was just three points below her career high. Kristen Derting also found herself in the combined top-five, firing an 1176.
In smallbore, Tedeschi took second place with two other shooters, tying her season high of 582. Derting was also one of the other two shooters to score a 582. Emma Pereira shot a 580 for sixth, and Lea Horvath shot a perfect prone score.
The Rebels kicked it into gear in air rifle but scored only one point higher than the Zips, 2376-2375. Their fourth air rifle score was above 2370 in their last five matches. Martina Gratz led the Rebels, hitting a 596 for the third time this season. Tedeschi and Horvath tied for fourth, shooting a 595, a season-high for Tedeschi. Derting fired one point short of those two with a 594, and Regan rounded out the top-10 with a 591.
Ole Miss prepares for the NCAA Qualifiers with Memphis on Saturday, February 17. The team currently sits in seventh place out of the eight teams moving on to the NCAA Championships.
