No. 12 Rebels defeat No. 10 Army West Point

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss Rifle is off to a 2-0 start after defeating No. 10 Army West Point Saturday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center. The No. 12-ranked Rebels posted an aggregate of 4645 to Army's 4624.
Ole Miss is now 2-0 in GARC competition, having defeated then-No. 9 NC State two weeks ago.
Team Results
The Rebels gained an eight-point lead after firing a 2298 in smallbore compared to the Academy's 2292. In air rifle, Ole Miss turned in a 2347 while Army shooters totaled a 2332.
Senior Jessica Haig (Constableville, New York) led Ole Miss in air rifle with a 592. Freshman Sophia Cuozzo (Orange, Connecticut) fired a personal best 588. In addition, freshman Emily Cock fired a 585 and junior, Harley Gardner a 583.
Smallbore Results (2298)
In smallbore, Harley Gardner led the team with 578 followed by freshman Emily Cock (577), Randi Loudin (574) and freshman Sophia Cuozzo (569). Army's high shooters were Nathan Brewer in smallbore (577) and Kaitlyn Kutz in air rifle (587).
Air Rifle Notes
Jess Haig led Ole Miss in air rifle with a (592), followed by freshman Sophia Cuozzo's personal best (588), freshman Emily Cock's (585) and Harley Gardner's (583).
Marsha's Minute
"It is always nice to come out on top, especially against a GARC team that finished ahead of us last year," said head coach Marsha Beasley. "We had a fairly solid day. Our smallbore was down a little, but I feel good about where we are. We had personal bests from a couple of our non-counters, both Abby Buesseler and Kamilla Kisch had PRs in both guns. They fired identical scores of 574 in smallbore. Kisch had a 592 in air rifle while Buesseler shot 582."

The Rebels will remain home in Oxford, hosting Akron Oct. 15. The match will start at 8 a.m. at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center located off Highway 7 and Sisk Avenue.
