OXFORD, Miss. -- Senior Ole Miss women's golfer, Stani Schiavone  (Bangor, Pennsylvania) and junior men's golfer Forrest Gamble  (Birmingham, Alabama) were named to the Capital One/CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District team announced on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both first-team selections, Schiavone and Gamble are now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-American Team, which will be announced in early June. It's Schiavone's first career honor and Gamble's second career honor.

"This is another significant achievement by these two outstanding student-athletes at the University of Mississippi," said senior associate athletics director for academics, Derek Cowherd. "It speaks to their commitment to their sport and similar commitment to their success in academics. We are so very proud of Stani and Forrest's many accomplishments."

Gamble, who is currently in San Diego with the Ole Miss men's golf team at the NCAA Championships, was named the SEC Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year and holds a 4.0 GPA in physics with a minor in mathematics. He plans to attend medical school after graduation. The junior has been named to the Chancellor's and SEC Academic Honor Rolls and is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Omnicron Delta Kappa honor societies. Gamble was inducted into the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges and participated in the Chancellor's Leadership class. Gamble was also selected to the SEC Community Service team for his work in the community, which included assisting with Ole Miss' `Books and Bears' program to collect toys and books for children during the holiday season, visiting with seniors at a local assisted-living facility and collecting donations for tornado victims and assisting with local cleanup efforts in Columbia, Mississippi.

Schiavone holds a 3.97 GPA in mathematics education and took home Ole Miss' female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the annual Rebels' Choice Awards. The senior has been named to the Chancellor's and SEC Academic Honor Rolls, is a two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. Most recently, Schiavone was named a Taylor Medalist, which is the highest academic honor given at the University of Mississippi. This season, Schiavone helped the Rebel women's golf team to the Samford Intercollegiate title where she earned medalist honors.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must hold a 3.3 grade point average or higher and must be in their second year at the nominating institution. Student-athletes must also have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the time of nomination.
