Recap

Ole Miss vs Arkansas
January 2, 2015
HEAD COACH Matt Insell

On tonight's game…
"That is the way we play. I am just so proud of the team and how tough they played. They had so much toughness throughout the game. I told the team this morning that it is huge in SEC play that you take control of momentum at the last four minutes of the first half, and the first four minutes of the second half. You need to control the momentum in those two eras and we did that tonight. This team is getting better and better every game. This team is growing. They are a good basketball team and they will continue to improve. Everyone that played in this game just locked in and gave it their all. We got into some foul trouble and we had others step up. We are going to get better and better with each game."

On the double digit lead in the second half…
"It is just toughness defensively. We are locking in and we are guarding. They are executing at crucial times. Arkansas would make a run at us and we would execute and make a bucket. That is just crucial plays that are making the difference. I told everyone that Erika Sisk would not go one for 11 again and she goes 8 for 12. Erika Sisk is a winner. Tia Faleru played well. Arkansas did a good job of doubling and tripling Tia but she still ended up with a double-double. I am just so proud of them. Shequila Joseph had some good minutes. She got in the game and really battled. Arkansas is a really good basketball team. Head Coach Jimmy Dykes does a great job with his Arkansas team, but we really took care of our house. Now we have set ourselves up to have a good run in the SEC. Tomorrow morning we will start our prep for Kentucky. We are going to be happy about our win tonight, and tomorrow morning get ready for Kentucky."

On Ole Miss' defense…
"They are just getting better. We are starting to see things and starting to understand concepts. We are starting to cut baseline drives off and we did not let Arkansas go middle. Things we are working on every day are getting better. That is very relieving for me, as a coach, to see. They got after it. When Erika Sisk and A'Queen Hayes are on the floor together, I am telling you, it is tough. Those two lock up and they get hands on a lot of balls. They play with a lot of energy and a lot of passion. Gracie Frizzell is out there doing a great job and so is Shandricka Sessom. Our perimeter players are doing a great job. It is just a huge win for our program to start 1-0 in the SEC. We have a good team and we are really building our program."
