Ole Miss vs Southeastern Louisiana
December 29, 2014
HEAD COACH Matt Insell
On tonight's game…
"Well, we got the win. At times we played as if we were still on Christmas break, but we did get the win. You have to give credit to Southeastern Louisiana. They came in motivated. I knew that they would. I have watched several tapes on them. They play extremely hard. We came out and struggled early. We never really got into a great rhythm. We had players step up when it got tough. One thing that happened tonight is our team got really tough when they needed to and found a way to pull out a win. I am extremely proud of that. We are happy to get this win. We had a good talk after the game. This was a good game before conference play. Southeastern Louisiana came in and we had to play really well."
On what the team did when they executed…
"We got the ball to Tia Faleru. She started posting and did a great job with that. We started executing. We are obviously continuing to move forward with a new offensive structure. We still need to continue getting better at this. We started turning our defense up. We scored a lot with our defense in the second half. A'Queen Hayes has really battled. As I have said, Hayes has really stepped up and taken control of our basketball team from the guard spot. Amber Singletary came in and gave great minutes behind her. It was just the game after Christmas and we had to find a way to win it. There is a lesson to be learned in that. We have to improve on a few things. We are ready for SEC play."

On the 10-3 non-conference record…
"There were many ups-and-downs, and good times and bad times. We made it through the non-conference. We are setting ourselves up to make a good run in SEC play. I just keep looking back to SEC Media Day when everyone was talking about the other teams in the conference, but no one really mentioned Ole Miss. Danielle McCray and I looked at each other and said 'this is our year.' So, I am looking forward to Arkansas on Friday. Like coach said, we are on our way. We are on the railroad tracks and we are coming through. I am going to do whatever I can, starting Friday, to put my team on my back in SEC play. I want to be a leader, a senior leader. I want to try and do whatever I can for my team."
On the motivation for SEC play…
"At night it is all I can think about. I think about how everyone else feels about Ole Miss. It is just something that is bottled up inside of me. I am just ready to let it out. Friday is show time. That is what I am looking forward to now, and that is what we are looking forward to as a team."
