Recap

Ole Miss vs Southern Miss
December 18, 2014
HEAD COACH Matt Insell

On tonight's win…
"It was a great win. Southern Miss is a great basketball team. I have watched a lot of film on them. They are a good basketball team that was picked second in their league ahead of Western Kentucky and behind Middle Tennessee State. They have a lot of good athletes. I told our girls, you are not going to many as athletic as No. 10, Jerontay Clemons. If we can guard her we can guard anyone in our league. She is a big time player. I am really proud of our basketball team and how they played tonight."

On the new offense…
"It is getting there. Our percentages are up. They played more zone tonight than we have seen, and probably will see all year. That is good for us, too. Tonight we had to perform and had to make plays against a zone. We have to start making more free throws and that started tonight.

On A'Queen Hayes …
"A'Queen Hayes takes the grunt of a lot of the fussing on the bench. She takes it with pride and she wants it. She is not shooting a great percentage. But, I watch her every day in the gym. She is the first one in there and the last one to leave. Everyday she is working on her free throws. When it counted tonight she made those free throws, and we had to have them. I am extremely proud of her. Her toughness is what we need. When she gets out there talking on the ball defensively, it gets some big plays for us. When we needed to shut people down, she was out there making a lot of plays for us.

On Alabama A&M …
"As soon as I get done here, I am going to go back to the office and start watching tape on Alabama A&M. We are going to get a good game plan together and be ready to go. We are practicing tomorrow morning at 12. Our focus has to be on this next game against Alabama A&M, not on getting on that plane Saturday afternoon. A lot of them are flying out for the holidays when the game is over, and they are excited about that. But, we need to focus on the task at hand and get this game under our belts. We need to get another win against Alabama A&M. We made the plays we needed to tonight, and I am just really proud of our team."
