Recap

Ole Miss vs South Alabama
December 14, 2014
HEAD COACH Matt Insell

On coming back after the week off...
"It feels really good. You saw all of the hard work our players have put into this game and into the team. I challenged them after the rough week we had against Western Kentucky and Baylor. We had some things we were not doing well. We had to get in there and fix them and get in the groove. We had to treat that as a positive instead of a negative. Our team got after it and got in there and practiced really hard. I asked them to do something on Wednesday that it is unheard of in college basketball. I asked them to scrap everything we had been doing offensively. Everyone put their playbooks in the trashcan, and we started a whole new system offensively. What we were doing was not fitting our basketball team. As you saw as the game got going tonight, we had more movement, we had more looks and we had a lot more people involved. We shot 53% in the field because we got good shots. I am just really proud of them."

On making those drastic changes...
"We could have probably still won games, but not once we got into SEC play. We were not going to be successful as the year got going unless we made a change. I told the staff that we had to break our pride, too. I know there are some things we think we should be able to do, but we have to break our pride and figure out what is best for this basketball team. I worked for days on this change because I wanted our team to see that I had confidence in this and that they should have the same confidence. You saw more players playing free today. You saw the players not thinking and making more natural plays. I was really proud of that."

On Bretta Hart...
"There is not another student-athlete on campus that loves being a part of Ole Miss more than Bretta Hart does. She just loves the University of Mississippi. Bretta plays her heart out every time she is out there for this great university. She supports every team on this campus. She goes to musicals. She goes to plays. Bretta loves being here, at this school. She worked so hard in the offseason. It was heartbreaking for me, and it was heartbreaking for her when she had her knee injury. I was feeling for her because of how hard she has worked. Today you were able to see how hard she has worked. She had a great game, and she is going to keep having those games."

On being back on the court and achieving a career-high points ...
"I don't even have words to describe how excited I am. I am really happy to be back and playing with my team. I do not even know what to say about scoring a career-high. I am just so happy to be back."
