On the first minutes of the game …
"We were getting every shot we wanted and were hitting wide open looks and they just weren't falling for some reason. I told the kids, you just have to hang in their on the nights the shots are not going in. We got wide open looks and I was really happy with how we were executing. Our kids kept talking and communicating and it was probably the best half of defense I've ever seen as a coach in the Southeastern conference. Playing a team out of the Pac - 12 and you just shut them down for 20 minutes and that's progress for us."
On the freshman in the final minutes …
" I looked out their late and I think we had three freshman, a sophomore and a junior on the court and we're in a one point game and its going back and forth and Utah has an experienced team on the other end and they are so big and it was hard to move them around. It was amazing to see how they were pulling together and executing and getting the shot that we wanted. We would make it and sometime we would miss it but it was the shot that we wanted and that was a part of our growth process… the last six minutes were something special to see our young team come together and gel. It was a total team effort and I'm really happy and proud of my basketball "
On the playing Nevada…
"They had a good crowd in here for there game. They have a good following and it's going to be a good game. It will be a hostile environment and that's good because when we go to Western Kentucky we'll get in that same type of environment. I'm excited about it. We get an opportunity in November to win a championship of a tournament and we have a great opportunity to win but you can't win unless you win the first one."
