OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team fell to Miami 82-46 Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss Ole Miss fell to 7-5 while Miami improved to 11-1.

Miami jumped out to an early lead and kept Ole Miss off the scoreboard until a free throw by Kayla Melson with 14:50 remaining in the half. The Hurricanes led by as many as 27 with seven minutes remaining.

Valencia McFarland led Ole Miss at the half with nine points. Miami shot 46.9 percent from the floor (15-of-32) while Ole Miss shot 27.8 percent (5-of-18).

Miami went up 62-26 with 14:04 to play as the Hurricanes went on to post the 82-46 win.

McFarland and Melson led Ole Miss with 11 points each while Maggie McFerrin added nine. Melson, Nikki Byrd and Tori Slusher each grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Miami shot 48.3 percent from the floor (29-of-60) while Ole Miss shot 25.0 percent (12-of-48).

Ole Miss will travel to Jersey City, N.J. on December 29-30 for the St. Peter's Holiday Classic. The Rebels will open Classic play against Samford on December 29 at 4 p.m. CT.
