Rebel Rifle Picks Up A Pair Of Wins

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss Rebel rifle team went on the road this weekend and picked up a pair of wins. The Rebels knocked off home-standing Citadel and N.C. State in a pair of matches over the weekend.
The Rebels knocked off the Wolfpack 4578-4573 at Citadel on Saturday. Ole Miss edged N.C. State 2308-2306 in the air rifle and 2270-2267 in the smallbore. Junior Colleen Tillson paced the Rebels in the air rifle firing a total of 585, while sophomore Keely Stankey finished close behind with a mark of 582. Meredith Holman (579) and Emma Holman (562) rounded out the Rebel air line.
Meredith Holman led the Ole Miss smallbore effort with a mark of 576 and Stankey was close behind with a total of 573. Tillson fired a 568 and Emma Holman turned in a total of 553 to finish out the Ole Miss scoring.
On Sunday, the Rebels finished off the perfect weekend by defeating the home-standing Bulldogs 4551-4422. Keely Stankey fired a career-best air rifle mark of 586 to lead Ole Miss to a 2306-2228 win over the Bulldogs in the air. Meredith Holman (581), Tillson (579) and Emma Holman (560) rounded out the Rebels' air scoring.
Stankey also fired a career-best score of 580 to lead the Rebels' smallbore effort, while Meredith Holman turned in a mark of 562 and Tillson was close behind with a score of 561. Emma Holman finished out the Rebel line with a total of 542.
"It was nice to pick up two wins after coming so close in the last couple of matches," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "We had several personal highs and did a good job as a team. We just need to keep getting better every match."
The Rebels will return to action on January 16th, when they travel to Murray, Ky. to face off against Murray State.
