Ole Miss Rifle Falls To Kentucky

Lexington, Ky. - The Ole Miss rifle team fell to Great America Rifle Conference foe Kentucky on Saturday by an aggregate score of 4682-4632.

One bright spot for the Rebels was the shooting of sophomore Shannon Wilson, who set a career best with a mark of 586 in the smallbore. Other smallbore performances included Jennifer Lorenzen (584), Mara Polonsky (574), Natasha Phillips (570), Megan Sandage (569) and Casey Phillips (563).

"Our smallbore scores were not as strong as they have been in the past," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Booth. "Shannon shot well, but we were not as consistent as we have been. Our air rifle scores were more in line with our previous shooting. If we can become more consistent then we should be in great shape for the NCAA qualifiers."

Junior All-America Jennifer Lorenzen shared the top air rifle score with Wilson. Both shooters turned in a mark of 586. Other air rifle scores included Megan Sandage (583), Casey Phillips (582), Natasha Phillips (577) and Mara Polonsky (575).

Ole Miss hosts an NCAA qualifying sectional on February 12, at the Patricia C. Lamar Nation Guard Readiness Center.
