STARKVILLE, Miss. - Martin Sjoqvist and Martin Selin of the Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the doubles final at the Mississippi Intercollegiate Sunday, but the two teams postponed the final for a later date.

The Rebel duo was supposed to play Matthieu Ballay and Marco Baron in the final, but Baron was in the singles final and wanted to play that first. The two teams agreed to meet again at 5 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 21 at MSU.

Selin and Sjoqvist, ranked No. 43 in the nation, defeated Daniel Healey and Conrad Hurter (MSU) in the second round 8-5 and then took out Jeremy Bayon and Mathieu Soto 8-4 in the semifinals. The Rebel tandem is currently 4-1 on the year with a win over the No. 2 team in the nation at the National Clay Court Championships.

Ballay and Baron knocked out Rebels James Shortall and Vikrant Chada in the semifinals 8-4.

In singles action, top-seeded Sjoqvist was eliminated in the semifnals by Baron 6-2, 6-0. Baron also beat the Rebel's Chada 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal round. Shortall dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Ballay in the quarterfinals. It was only his second loss of the season as he is now 9-2.

Next up for the Rebels will be the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational Oct. 9-11 in Tempe, Ariz.
