Jacob Whitehead is in his fifth season on Yolett McPhee-McCuin's staff as the coordinator of video operations and third as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season.

In the 2025-26 campaign, Whitehead guided Ole Miss to wins over three AP top-five opponents, making the Rebels the only SEC team in 2025-26 to accomplish the feat without any of those victories coming at home. The Rebels delivered another strong postseason, advancing to the SEC Tournament semifinals for the fourth time in five years and earning a first-round win over 12th-seeded Gonzaga, thanks in part to Whitehead’s help in assembling ESPN’s No. 2 ranked transfer portal class ahead of the season.

Whitehead served as Cotie McMahon’s position coach as she delivered a historic season, earning SEC Newcomer of the Year honors, All-SEC First Team recognition, four All-America selections, and spots on five national award watch lists. McMahon recorded 34 double-digit scoring games, setting the Ole Miss single-season record for most games with at least 10 points, and finished with 703 total points—the fourth-highest single-season total in program history.

He also was the position coach for Latasha Lattimore and Sira Thienou who were the Rebels’ third and fourth best scorers that season. Lattimore recorded 74 blocks, marking the second most by any Rebel in a single season in program history.

Whitehead was vital in Ole Miss’ 2025 NCAA Tournament run, helping the Rebels advance to the Sweet 16 by leading film sessions during the season. Ole Miss saw their fourth consecutive double-digit conference wins season and ended the year ranked in the top 25 nationally in eight major statistical categories.

Whitehead joined Ole Miss following a stint as the video coordinator as well as the interim director of men’s basketball operations at SIU Edwardsville. With the Cougars, Whitehead was responsible for all video aspects of the scouting reports as well as live coding games on the bench and creating edits in-game for halftime. His duties even included overseeing all student managers and team social media.

Prior to his role as a video coordinator, Whitehead was a graduate assistant during the 2020-21 season. From 2017-2020, Whitehead worked as the head men’s basketball manager. He graduated from SIU Edwardsville in 2020 with a degree in criminal justice and earned his masters’ degree in physical education and coaching pedagogy in 2022.
