2/7/2026 | Rifle
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Ole Miss rifle opened at the Patriot Rifle Conference Saturday morning in Fort Wayne, Indiana, securing a third overall finish in smallbore while Gracie Dinh earned the bronze medal among individuals.
Dinh and the Rebels scored 2357 points on day one of the tournament, which is the eighth-highest score in the event in program history. With Dinh medaling, it marks back-to-back seasons a Rebel has finished top three in the smallbore event of the conference tournament, with Audrey Gogniat claiming the top spot last season.
Ole Miss has finished with a top three effort in both of its seasons in the PRC, last season finishing second. Nebraska and TCU were the only programs to shoot better on the day, as Nebraska earned the gold. A team champion will be crowned tomorrow after the conclusion of air rifle, which is set to start at 7 a.m. CT.
Gogniat, Susan Carter and Regan Diamond opened the day for Ole Miss in the first relay. The Rebels opened strong, putting up 1752 combined points. Gogniat led the charge, scoring 593 on her own. That mark finished first in the preliminary relay and was tied for the second-best score in the qualifying round once both relays finished.
Diamond added 590 to Ole Miss' tally, which tied a career best. She last achieved that score against Alaska Fairbanks earlier this season. Carter contributed 569 points to the Rebel cause.
After an intermission, Dinh and Jordan de Jesus rounded out Ole Miss' score. The duo fired well, scoring 590 and 584, respectively. Dinh's efforts punched her ticket to the final round, while de Jesus' score locked in Ole Miss' bid for a top 10 team performance all-time in the event.
Gogniat and Dinh advanced to the shoot off by finishing top eight in the qualifying round. It marks back-to-back years the sophomore duo has done so, last season saw Gogniat take home the crown while Dinh finished sixth overall.
In the medal round, Dinh led all scorers after the first 15 shots, holding a 154.6, a lead of .8 points. In the next 15 shots in prone, TCU's Katie Zaun had caught Dinh and surpassed her, but only by 1.3 points. Meanwhile, a slow start for Gogniat meant an early exit from the closing round, finishing the day eighth overall.
On the 43rd shot, Dinh outlasted Nebraska's Carley Seabrooke to secure a medal. She still found herself in third place with shot No. 44 upcoming. On that attempt, her score came just short of Zaun as she finished with the bronze medal.
Ole Miss will cap off the tournament run tomorrow with the air rifle event. Sighters of the first relay are set to begin at 7 a.m. CT. There will be two relays to determine the champion.
