Women’s Tennis Advances Four Singles Players at ITA Regionals

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ole Miss women's tennis advanced four singles players to the next round of the ITA Regional Championships on Friday, as Andrea Nova, Alice Soulie, Alice Battesti and Riley Crowder earned victories in the Round of 32 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The Rebels opened the tournament with six singles victories in the Round of 64. Lena Thomas Iglesias, Nova, Soulie, Ichino Horikawa, Battesti and Crowder each won their opening-round matches to advance.
Thomas Iglesias battled through a three-set match against South Alabama's Isabella Pisarczyk, while Nova defeated Nicholls State's Blanca Losada Morales, 6-2, 6-1. Soulie earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over North Alabama's Sammie Schouten, and Horikawa rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory against Troy's Leena Metwally.
Battesti defeated North Alabama's Mathilde Delaney, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), while Crowder came back to beat McNeese State's Salome Fluri, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Sarah Victoria Majesty Nita fell to Troy's Lamiss Haouas, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
In the Round of 32, Nova continued her strong play with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory over McNeese State's Leana Gomez. Soulie rallied after dropping the opening set against Louisiana Tech's Maria Tsironi, winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Crowder delivered a commanding performance against Southern Miss' Sakura Sudo, winning 6-1, 6-0, while Battesti added a 6-2, 6-0 victory over LSU's Dora Miskovic.
Thomas Iglesias fell to LSU's Nada Fouad, 6-3, 6-3, while Horikawa dropped a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) decision to LSU's Tegan Bush.
The Rebels will continue competition at the ITA Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, with Nova, Soulie, Battesti and Crowder advancing from the Round of 32.
