Ole Miss Announces Change In Leadership for Rifle Program
4/17/2025 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss. – After three highly successful seasons in Oxford and two as head coach, Ole Miss rifle head coach Rachel Martin has resigned to pursue other professional opportunities, it was announced Thursday.
A national search for the next head coach of the program will begin immediately.
"We are grateful to Rachel for her leadership and the meaningful impact she made during her time as head coach," said Keith Carter, Ole Miss Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics. "Though her tenure was brief, her contributions were significant, and we wish her and her family all the best in their next chapter.
"Ole Miss has established itself as a perennial power in the sport of rifle, and we are committed to finding the right leader to continue that legacy of championship-level performance."
Under Martin's leadership, the Rebels reached new heights, headlined by her guidance of budding star Audrey Gogniat, who became Ole Miss Rifle's first individual national champion in program history after firing a perfect 600 in air rifle at the 2025 NCAA Championships.
The 2024-25 season was one to remember for Martin and Ole Miss Rifle, who finished with an individual national title, a team runner-up finish in the NCAA's air rifle competition and silver medals in the PRC smallbore and aggregate placement.
Martin took the reins for the 2023-24 season after serving as an assistant coach for the Rebels for one year under legendary coach Marsha Beasley. In her first season as head coach, Martin led Ole Miss to a third-straight team podium finish in the GARC Championships and its fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships.
Martin helped coach Gogniat to her title, as well as spearhead the development of three All-Americans in two years, including freshman Gracie Dinh, who was named a CRCA First Team All-American in smallbore with an honorable mention nod in aggregate scoring. Dinh became the program's 13th All-American and gave the Rebels at least one All-American in six straight seasons.
