Gordon Whitwell Named to SEC Community Service Team

OXFORD, Miss. - Recognized for his dedication to serving the Oxford community, Ole Miss men's tennis' Gordon Whitwell has been named to the SEC Community Service Team, the Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday.
The SEC Community Service Team serves as an annual effort by the Southeastern Conference to highlight the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. A total of 13 individuals were named to the SEC Community Service Team this season, representing the men's tennis program within the conference.
Whitwell has demonstrated a high level of commitment to Lafayette County and the state of Mississippi. The Rebel is involved in several local initiatives such as Feed the Sip, which is a food sustainability project that collects and donates non-perishable food items to elementary students. The junior is also involved in Reading with the Rebels which is a local initiative that helps increase and support reading literacy throughout the state of Mississippi.
Additionally, Whitwell has participated in Adopt a Basket and elementary morning carpool, while being a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The Oxford, Mississippi, native is continuously finding ways to give back and is dedicated to making an impact within the community around him.
Whitwell and the rest of the Rebel squad will round out regular season action on Friday, April 11, as Ole Miss will play host to No. 11 Mississippi State at 5:00 p.m. CT at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
