Women’s Basketball Tabbed Sixth in Preseason SEC Coaches Poll, Cotie McMahon Recognized as Second Team All-SEC
10/22/2025 | Women's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior transfer Cotie McMahon once again earned a spot on the Preseason Second Team All-SEC, as Ole Miss women's basketball was selected by the coaches to finish sixth overall out of the 16 teams in the SEC, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Rebels earned their third-straight spot in the Preseason Top 25 by the AP Poll last week, landing at No. 12. It's the 19th time Ole Miss has been honored in the preseason by the Associated Press. Ole Miss also found themselves in the sixth slot of the Preseason SEC Media Poll, along with McMahon earning Second Team All-SEC honors.
Ole Miss brings back three letterwinners from last season's Sweet 16 squad, which notched at least 10 SEC victories and 20 overall wins for the fourth consecutive year. Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin enters her eighth season in Oxford poised to elevate the program to even greater heights.
Joining the Rebels are nine newcomers, including eight transfers who make up ESPN's No. 2 transfer portal class. This talented group brings a wealth of experience to the court, combining for 460 Division I starts, 15 All-Conference honors, and eight Sweet 16 appearances.
Leading the way is McMahon, ranked as the top forward in this year's transfer portal. A four-time All-America honorable mention and seven-time All-Conference selection, McMahon started all 97 games over three seasons in Columbus, helping her former program reach the Elite Eight as a freshman.
Fans will have the chance to catch the Rebels in action in their lone exhibition of the season, hosting Southern Arkansas at the SJB Pavilion on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m. CT. Admission is free for all to attend.
