10/2/2025 | Rifle

OXFORD, Miss.  – With less than one week before the upcoming 2025-26 rifle season, OleMissSports.com will highlight each member of the squad ahead of the season opener at UTEP on Saturday, Oct. 4, in El Paso, finishing with the veteran members of the team, the juniors.

Regan Diamond and Gretchen Schleinkofer make up the Class of 2027 for Ole Miss this season and will serve as the team's most experienced competitors. Each athlete has accrued two years of competition experience and will offer an opportunity to lend a guiding hand to their younger teammates.

Diamond has emerged as capable shooter out of Keenesburg, Colorado, having been a counter in 18 matches throughout her career. Primarily a counter in air rifle, Diamond has shot a career-best 595 three times. In smallbore, she shot a 590 at the NCAA Qualifier as a freshman to help Ole Miss advance to the national tournament.

Last season, Diamond finished the year with a 589.9 average in air rifle and had three consecutive outings with a score of at least 594. In total, she had four performances in the top five individual standings of air rifle during the fall campaign. Diamond improved as a smallbore shooter as well, finishing second in the individual standings in the event at the NCAA Qualifier against Memphis, firing a season-high 589.

Schleinkofer, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, competed in five matches during her sophomore campaign. She shot a season-high 580 in smallbore in the regular season match against Memphis, while having her best air rifle score against Kentucky with a 588. She tied her season-best aggregate score of 1163 against both Memphis and Kentucky.

As a freshman, she appeared in eight matches for both events. Schleinkofer had a career day when facing No. 1 West Virginia, when she fired a career high 587 in smallbore. She concluded the 2023-24 campaign with a personal best 1173 aggregate score in the NCAA Qualifier, backed by an impressive 591 air rifle tally.

Ole Miss' juniors will look to lead the pack during head coach Will Shaner's first season at the helm. Ole Miss is set to commence the new season at UTEP on Oct. 4, with the match set for 9 a.m. CT.

Rebel fans will get their first chance to catch the juniors and the entire rifle squad at the home opener against Murray State on Oct. 25.
