Caroline Ellis Named Connecticut’s Gatorade Player of the Year
1/9/2025 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. – Incoming freshman for the Ole Miss volleyball program, Caroline Ellis, has been selected as the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Connecticut, as the statewide winners were announced on Thursday.
A native of Stamford, Conn., Ellis is set to join the Rebels for the 2025 season after signing in November.
Ellis finished her senior campaign with 279 kills, 137 digs, 40 assists and 29 service aces to propel the King School to a 21-0 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class A tournament title this past season. Ellis became a three-time NEPSAC Player of the Year winner with her Class A award this season after two previous in Class B. Ellis finishes her career with 1,002 kills and as a four-time NEPSAC champion.
Ellis is set to join a long line of prolific talent from the Constitution State to go on to strong Division I careers after winning the award, joining recent previous winners Aubrey Moore (2024 – Boston College), Leilani Gillespie (2023 – Northeastern), Liana Sarkissian (2022 – Dayton) and Emma Appleman (2021 – Charleston).
The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states across 12 different high school sports – football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field – and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the state winners in each sport.
