OXFORD, Miss. – Following a sensational athletic and academic career, Ole Miss volleyball senior Payton Brgoch has been selected as a College Sports Communicators Third Team Academic All-American, as announced on Tuesday.
Brgoch becomes the third Rebel in program history to earn CSC/CoSiDA Academic All-American honors, joining two-time winner Aubrey Edie (2016 – First Team and 2015 – Third Team) and Leslie Schutz (1983 – Second Team).
A native of Parker, Colo., Brgoch ends her careers as one of the most accomplished middle blockers in program history. Brgoch ranks second all-time in the rally scoring era with 472 blocks, while ranking fourth across all eras. Brgoch tallied 860 kills while hitting .328 over her career, which also ranks fourth in program history.
Brgoch capped off an incredible career with an NCAA single-match program-high 19 kills in the Rebels first NCAA Tournament win in program history over No. 21 Florida State. For her efforts this season, Brgoch earned AVCA All-South Region honorable mention honors.
Brgoch has recorded a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her sport and recreation management graduate degree. She is one of just two student-athletes in the SEC to earn honors, joining Florida's Kennedy Martin.
In addition to her academic All-American honors, Brgoch was one of four Rebels to earn All-District honors, joined by Emma Ammerman, Cammy Niesen and Sasha Ratliff.
