INDIANAPOLIS – Former Ole Miss track & field and cross country standout Anthony Camerieri has been named to Team USA for the upcoming 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia later this month on March 30.
In his one year as a Rebel across the 2022-23 academic year, Camerieri proved himself as one of the more talented distance runners in Ole Miss history. In the 2022 cross country season, Camerieri was a First-Team All-SEC and NCAA All-South Region honoree – earning the latter after finishing fifth at the regional meet, the best by a Rebel since 2018.
On the track, Camerieri was a two-time SEC medalist and scored 15 conference points, in addition to an NCAA runner-up and First-Team All-American after running a spectacular 3:57.50 mile anchor – at altitude – on Ole Miss' second-place distance medley relay indoors in 2023. Outdoors, he set the Ole Miss 5K record at 13:26.58, which qualified him for the 2023 U.S. Outdoor Championships, where he finished 14th overall.
Back in January, Camerieri earned his spot on Team USA after finishing eighth at the U.S. Cross Country Championships in Richmond, Virginia, clocking a 10K time of 29:34.8.
