LSU Too Much For Young Rebels

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss shot a season-low 23.2 percent from the floor as the Rebels fell to LSU, 76-38, Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, Ole Miss fell to 10-12 (3-7 SEC) while LSU improved to 16-9 (6-5 SEC) and swept the regular-season series against the Rebels.
Ole Miss used its youngest starting lineup of the year, starting three true freshmen and two sophomores.
Freshman Pa'Sonna Hope recorded a career-high 16 boards while freshman Valencia McFarland scored 16 points and four assists. Sophomore Maggie McFerrin made her first career start.
LSU used an 8-3 run early in the first half to go up by four, 16-12, with 12:20 to play. The Tigers went on an 18-1 run and held Ole Miss without a field goal for over six minutes as LSU went ahead 37-18 with 5:01 to play.
Ole Miss trailed LSU 42-26 at the half. Valencia McFarland led the Rebels with 11 points and four assists while Hope had 12 boards - three off tying her career high. Ole Miss shot 31.0 percent (9-of-29) from the floor while LSU shot 60.7 percent (17-of-28).
The Tigers opened the second half outscoring the Rebels 23-5 as LSU went on to post the 76-38 win.
"We had to guard the three ball, we knew that coming into this game and we knew who the shooters were," head coach Renee Ladner said. "LSU's three balls were the difference in the first half."
Ole Miss shot a season-low 23.2 percent from the half (13-of-56) while LSU shot 57.7 percent (30-of-52). LSU finished the game with 10 three pointers with seven coming in the first half.
Ole Miss will host Mississippi State Thursday at 7 p.m. The game is the "Pack the House Challenge" and the first 200 fans will get a free t-shirt.
