OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team added two more players to it's signing class, as Kaitlin Voll of Alpharetta, Ga., and Alison Hovatter of Huntsville, Ala., have signed national letters of intent to join the program beginning in the fall of 2011, head coach Michele Drinkard announced Tuesday.
Voll is a four-time winner on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and has 11 top 10 finishes on the SJGT as well. She qualified for the U.S. Girls Championship in 2010. In 2009 Voll won the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) 2AA Championship. In 2008 she was the runner-up at the GSGA 3AAA tournament and low medalist at the GSGA Regional 3AAA tournament.
Hovatter, who attends Hazel Green High School, has qualified for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Golf Championship the last four years and earned All-State honors the last three years. She finished fourth in the 2010 6A state golf tournament. Hovatter won the 2010 SJGT Indian Hills Junior Classic and Four Ball Team Championship. She ranked seventh on the SJGT Points Standing. Hovatter was recently selected as the Huntsville Hospital Sports Center Athlete of the week.
"Katie and Alison are both perfect fits for our program and already have become a big part of our Ole Miss family," Drinkard said. "We have always had great team chemistry, and Katie and Alison are going to keep adding to our depth. Both are outstanding students and good athletes, and both have great potential. We look forward to helping them develop and taking their games up several more levels in their career here at Ole Miss."
Voll is a member of the National Honor Society, The National Society of High School Scholars and also finds time to volunteer for Atlanta Community Food Bank and Open Hands. Hovatter is also a member of the National Honor Society and holds a 3.9 GPA. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Students and participates in Birdies for St. Jude.
Voll and Hovatter complete a signing class that includes junior college All-American Ericka Schneider and North Carolina standout Taelor Rubin.
