OXFORD, Miss. Jillian Brodd of Knoxville, Tenn., has signed a national letter of intent to join the Ole Miss women’s golf team beginning with the 2007-08 academic year, head coach Meghan Bolger announced Friday.

Brodd, a senior at Farragut High School, helped her team win the State Championship the last two years.  This past summer she qualified for the U.S. Junior Girls Championship for the second year in a row.

“She told me she had a huge smile on her face when she signed,” said Bolger, the 2006 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion.  “We are proud to know that she’s excited to become a Rebel.  Jillian has an extensive junior background on the local and national levels.  She brings a lot of talent, and we expect her to contribute right away.”

An All-State honoree, Brodd has participated in eight American Junior Golf Association tournaments with two top 10s and two top five showings.   She notched a hole-in-one at this summer’s AJGA Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, Mich.

In addition, Brodd was selected All-KIL and First team PrepXtra in 2005 and 2006.  She won the SJGT William Bryan in Lookout Mountain, Ga., two years in a row and finished among the top five at the Tennessee Girls Junior, and in the top five at the Signal Mountain Junior Invitational in 2005.
