Caravia And Dreyfus Named Academic All-American

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss golfers Phil Caravia and Robert Dreyfus have been named Academic All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This marks the third consecutive year that Ole Miss have placed student-athletes on the academic roster.

Caravia, a senior managerial finance major from Belleville, Ill., makes his second appearance on the academic roster. He was also named to the list in 1999-2000. He averaged 74.45 in 10 tournaments played in 2000-01. He led the Rebels to a berth in this weekend's NCAA Championships with an eighth place finish.

Dreyfus, a senior accounting major from Meridian, Miss., competed in six tournaments for the Rebels before injuring his wrist earlier in the spring.

He carded two top-10 and two top- 20 finishes in 2000-01.

The Rebels will be in action on Wednesday at the 2001 NCAA Championships at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C. This will be Ole Miss' second trip to the NCAA Championships in three years.
