Ole Miss Golf Prepares For SEC Championships

OXFORD, Miss.-- Coming off a their sixth top-five performance in their last sixtournaments, the Ole Miss golf team now prepares for the 2001 SEC Championships this weekend at the Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga.
The Rebels finished fifth at the 2001 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate on April 6-8. With that fifth place finish, Ole Miss has finished no worse than fifth in their last six tournaments.
Ole Miss is led by All-SEC candidate Troy Muller, who leads the Rebels with a 72.51 stroke average. Muller has claimed two tournament championships this season. He won the 2000 Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate last October and the 2001 Louisiana Classics in March.
In addition to Muller, Phil Caravia, Andrew Medley, J.J. Thompson, and Tommy Clement round out the Rebels' lineup at the SEC Championships.
First round play is scheduled for Friday, with play continuning Saturday and Sunday. Highlights of the tournament will be shown on April 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) on FOX Sports Net South.
